New Year, New You in 2023

New Year, New You in 2023

Well, we’ve made it to another year! Hooray for us 🙂 Now it’s time to reflect on what went well and what didn’t go so well over the past year and make plans for a great year ahead.

So how do you do that?

New Year’s resolutions?

A word for the year?

Three words for the year?

I’ve been using 3 words for the year and I like that better than resolutions. Check out my 3 words at the end of this post.

Resources for you

I’ve found helpful resources as you work on personal development, resolutions, or whatever system best suits your life.

(1) LinkedIn Shares Notes on How to Improve Your Mental Approach in 2023 [Infographic]

This is an interesting infographic of tips that takes you through a process – Quiet – Questions – Quick Actions to create a new year’s plan.

(2) My 3 Words for 2023 | Chris Brogan

In this post, Chris explains how using the 3-words approach to the new year is better than resolutions, as resolutions often come from a negative mindset:

“Instead, the idea of the 3 words is more like: what can I use to guide me towards results I want to support for the entire year and beyond? Not the result itself. The path. The process.”

My 3 words this year

Intention

An idea you plan to carry out; something you mean to do…

My schedule is busier than ever now and doing things with purpose or intention is the only way they will get done. No more wasting time on things that aren’t important to my overall goals.

Motion

The power of movement; moving from one place to another…

This word is for my mind as well as my body to keep both in motion and to keep both in better condition.

Completion

The action or process of finishing something; the state of being finished…

A big cause of stress for me over the years has been the unfinished tasks or projects in my life. So if I start something, I will finish it this year!

Personal Development All Year

The new year tends to be when we all focus on starting fresh or creating goals, but personal development should be an ongoing process.

Create a schedule to check up on your personal development and personal goals – once a month, every quarter, every 6 months…

Or maybe you’ve set aside some time each week to focus on personal development: journaling, reading, listening to podcasts…find the process that works best for you!

I’ll continue to update the Pinterest board with resources. Feel free to reach out with any great resources you find! You can send me a direct message on Facebook.com/TerryLeague or Twitter.com/TerryLeague.

Happy New Year!
