Facebook Publishes New Report on the Brand Potential of Stories
As explained by Social Media Today, Facebook’s new report (study conducted by Ipsos) “incorporates feedback from more than 18,000 people, aged between 13 and 54, from across 12 countries who’ve self-reported using stories on Facebook’s family of apps (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger).”
The responses suggest that viewers are looking for five key elements:
- 51% said they want to see Stories which feature information about sales and promotions
- 51% said they want Stories content that’s quick, and easy to understand
- 45% are looking for tips and advice
- 44% are interested in seeing information about new products
- 43% want to see brand Stories that ‘feel real’
So if you’re selling products, then Stories can most definitely create more opportunities for people to learn more and take action.
If you are a service-based business, focusing on tips and advice could be beneficial to your brand.
New features on Facebook Stories:
As reported by Mari Smith, you can now add hashtags and “clickable” links in your Facebook Stories. I tested it on my Page, and it’s easy to do:
Go to your Facebook Page (I did this on desktop) and create a new post/status update.
Add a hashtag and/or a website URL to the text of the post and then share the new post to your News Feed and “Story”.
When someone views your Page’s Story, they’ll see 2 screens: one with the clickable link and hashtag and the second with any photo/video you’ve used (see screenshots of mine below):
Every business is different, but as Facebook places more emphasis on Stories (including more advertising opportunities), it’s important to pay attention to the trends.
