Boundaries, Bouncing Back, and Building Again

Boundaries, Bouncing Back, and Building Again

It’s been quite a year and a half around here, with work, family, and everything in between changing. Some of the biggest changes for us included:

  • The pandemic and its effect on us economically and emotionally (thankfully all our family remained healthy throughout)
  • Moving after 16 years to a new area and down-sizing to a smaller house
  • Our oldest daughter’s wedding (postponed twice because of the pandemic) finally took place in June 2021 (and it was beautiful!)

It’s been a year of moves and changes for us!

All of these changes meant that I set some boundaries and took a step back from my social media / digital marketing consultant position.

I’m thankful that I was able to intentionally make that decision, unlike so many people who lost jobs and opportunities due to the pandemic/shutdowns occurring.

I was in control of how much client work I took on, my schedule, and business events, which allowed me to focus more on the family and home situation. And again, I’m thankful I had the freedom of being self-employed to make those choices.

But now that things have settled down a bit, I’m looking forward to spending more time on work and building up my business again.

Will things be different going forward? I hope so…while I’m definitely older after these past 15 months, I hope I’m wiser too 😉

Being self-employed or a small business owner comes with plenty of risks. But at the same time, the freedom to be your own boss is a pretty big draw for many of us.

Our whole journey to becoming self-employed/small business owners was not planned: my husband’s sudden job loss, while I was at home with 3 small children back in the late 1990s, gave us plenty of motivation to have more control over our income-producing activities.

You make sacrifices being self-employed and hope they balance out with the positives from being your own boss. For us, it’s been worth it, and again I’m very thankful for that!

So now that things have calmed down a little here, I’m looking forward to bouncing back.

I will be helping other small business owners or self-employed individuals navigate the social media marketing world to learn how to put time-saving, effective systems in place so their digital marketing strategies are the best fit for their business goals.

Social media platforms are constantly changing and it can be very challenging to keep up with them. Your digital marketing strategy needs to take these changes and trends into account no matter what type of business you have.

I’ll be sharing the latest social media updates, as well as helpful tips and resources on all things digital marketing.

But I’d also love to hear from you: what do you need help with as a small business owner, self-employed person, or someone who is launching a part-time side business?

Contact me with your questions/comments and I’ll share some helpful tips and resources on the most requested topics.
