New Year, New You in 2022

New Year, New You in 2022

How do you start the new year? With resolutions? Goals? A word (or 3) of the Year? Affirmations? A vision board?

I’ve done all of the above over the years, and can’t really say I have a favorite system…it all depends on what season of my life I’ve been in at the time.

Working from home with 3 kids under the age of 5 was not the season for me to create complicated goals and an elaborate vision board – simple was best at that time. A few goals, several good affirmations, a vision board if the kids helped me cut things out of old magazines…you do what works best with the time you have, right?

As my kids got older, I found it easier to find more time for “me” and my goals, but no matter how much or how little time you have for self-reflection and personal development, it is important during all seasons of our lives.

Personal development is an ongoing process of working on becoming a better version of ourselves.

Resolutions or Words?

The last few years I’ve been doing 3 words for the year instead of resolutions. It helps me keep things simple, which works better for me!

In 2022 my 3 words are:

Strength
Skills
Strategy

All 3 apply to both personal and professional aspects of my life.

I also spend the whole month of January as my time to establish specific goals, resolutions, and affirmations for the year.

Taking a month to plan works well for me since I never have much time to think about New Year’s goals in November/December with the holiday season, and since my birthday is in January, it means I’ve got double the incentive to make some changes in the first month of the year.

So no matter the season of your life, if you’re looking for some help to create your resolutions, goals, or theme of the year, I can help!

Resources for you

I’ve created a Personal Development board on Pinterest where I’m saving helpful resources. Click on the image below (or here) to check it out and follow it (or my account) to see what else I add to it.

A tip for you:

If you’ve ever created a physical Vision Board in the past (I think I made my first one when I was a Mary Kay Consultant), Pinterest is a great tool for creating a digital vision board!

Just save/pin whatever you want to your Vision Board, make the board secret if it’s only for your eyes, and then modify it as needed. It could be fun to make new Boards each year and go back to look at them!

Books and podcasts with a personal development theme are always great resources for your new year, new you plans. Scroll down to see a few of my favorite personal development books and let me know if you have any favorites to add to the list!
