The Number of Hashtags to Use on Instagram | Weekly Resources

Are you wondering how many hashtags you should use on Instagram posts? There have been some conflicting opinions from Instagram itself and marketing influencers.

So check out a new study from the Later Media blog based on millions of posts to decide what you should do for your Instagram hashtag strategy.

  1. The Number of Hashtags You Should Use on Instagram, According to 18M Posts

Later Media blog

Instagram recently stated that users should put only 5-8 hashtags on their posts. But this seems like such a change from earlier recommendations, and marketers have been a bit confused.

Later Media’s study suggests business accounts will see benefits from more than 5-8 hashtags.

From the article:

“As you can see, while posts with 20 hashtags receive the highest average reach rate, those with 30 hashtags are close behind.

We wondered if this trend had changed over recent years, and saw that the results were still pretty consistent in 2020…”

In summary, the recommendation from the Later blog:

“While using a few hashtags is good, using 20-30 relevant (and targeted) hashtags is even better for your overall reach and engagement rates.”

To be eligible, creators must be over 18 years old and have a Creator or Business account, have over 10,000 followers, and be compliant with the platform’s various partner monetization policies and community guidelines.

One of my favorite tools has added another new feature: you can now import content directly into Buffer from Dropbox, Google Drive, and One Drive.

Their recent Canva integration already made it easier to create visuals within the App and now another cool new feature is here.
